With no one directing us, we were free to chart our own course and experience the thrill of navigating the Snake River's swift currents.

As we paddled upstream, we passed under Perrine Bridge and arrived at Pillar Falls, a treacherous section of the river notorious for its sieves, undercurrents, and lava tubes. It's here that many kayakers have met their demise, making it a spot not to be taken lightly. With our life jackets securely fastened, we carefully made our way around the falls, taking in the awe-inspiring sight of Shoshone Falls looming before us.

After completing the portage, we were rewarded with an up-close-and-personal experience with the 212-foot waterfall, its misty veil rising into the air.
